Saltwick Bay beware! |
Agreed, Saltwick Bay is brilliant. We had a geat day fossil collecting until a chunk of cliff fell dangerously close to me. I was itching to look through the rubble, but my wife wouldn't allow it.Belemites and ammonite in abundance including a lovely ammonite covered in fool's gold. Nick Knowland |

Saltwick Bay - Dean Lomax - March 08 |
Saltwick Bay is a very good place to find fossils. I go when i can (living in Doncaster its hard to get up). I meet a friend up there and we search at the left hand side of saltiwck Bay that being the most productive area when we have looked. It has yielded Ichthyosaur verts and ribs (rare). Ammonites etc. To the right at Saltwick Bay you can find the same but for some reason there are bigger Ammonites to be found ranging from 6 inch onwards. Myself having found the dinosaur footprints with my friend they have never been recognised but they are worthwhile travelling to see,it is a very large piece.
I recommend it va good day out and are sure to come away with something even for the amateur. |
